Contact SueAnn at sueann@mfdannapolis.com with any questions
- Do I have to pay for this all by myself?
- What does my money cover?
- The funds you raise include airfare, lodging, food, travel on buses, and cultural exploration activities.
- Do I need to have dental or construction experience?
- No, you do not. You just need to have the willingness to learn something new.
- Do I have to work in one area the whole time?
- If you have dental experience or construction experience, we would prefer that you work in those areas the whole time.
- If you do not have experience, then you can opt to work one day in each or a couple days in each. We will try our best to accommodate your request.
- What does a typical day look like?
- After a good breakfast, we’ll split into three teams: one focused on dental care, another on a construction project, and the third running a Vacation Bible School. Each day, you’ll work closely with your team, making a real impact in the community. We’ll spend 8 to 10 hours together, but the day is filled with meaningful work, shared meals, and plenty of opportunities to connect. In the evening, we come back together to relax, share stories, and recharge for the next day’s adventures.
- If I don’t have dental experience, what can I do in that area?
- You can help organize the people to come in.
- You could help in sterilization.
- You could assist the doctors.
- Don’t worry, we will find something for you to do. Even if you do not have any medical or dental experience, we will train you so you feel comfortable helping in the clinical setting.
- What does the schedule look like for the week?
- Four mission days and two days of cultural exploration.
- Will I have some free time?
- In the evening, after dinner, there may be some downtime.
- On Sunday and Friday, there will be some downtime.
- Will there be internet?
- We are told yes, but it isn’t guaranteed to be good.
- Is there anything else besides the mission part of the trip?
- Yes, we hope to have at least 2 times to explore the culture.
- Where are we staying?
- Dormitory-style housing.
- We will be staying in the Hearts of Christ Children’s Ministry mission compound in Roaring Creek (below).
- Is the area safe that we are traveling to?
- We are staying in a fenced-in compound.
- Do they speak English in Belize?
- Yes.
- What shots do I need to get before going?
- Tetanus is a must for everyone.
- If you want to volunteer in the clinic at all, you must get Hep B and Hep A is encouraged. Keep in mind there are a series, so you need to plan when to get them.
